Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Globe News Feed ("we", "us", "our") operates globenewsfeed.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we process it, how long we keep it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and other applicable privacy laws.
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use.
1. Data controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- Globe News Feed
- Country of establishment: Norway
- Website: https://globenewsfeed.com
- Privacy contact: hello@globenewsfeed.com
2. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to:
- Visitors browsing headlines on globenewsfeed.com
- People who contact us via the contact form, email, or ad-space enquiry form
- Business customers using the advertiser portal (accounts are created by us after an agreement)
You do not need an account to read news on the site.
3. What personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process the following categories of data:
3.1 Visitors (general browsing)
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, requested pages, and timestamps (typically in server logs)
- Usage data — aggregated article click counts used to rank trending and breaking headlines. Clicks are counted per article ID; we do not build personal reading profiles from this
- Cookie and consent data — your cookie category choices and consent timestamp, stored in your browser (local storage)
- Session data — temporary PHP session identifiers (e.g. for maintenance preview access). Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser
- Ad delivery data — when direct-sold ads are shown, we record aggregated ad view counts server-side (ad ID only). This does not identify individual visitors
3.2 Contact and enquiries
If you use the contact form or ad-space enquiry form, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Enquiry topic and message content
- Company name (ad-space enquiries only, if provided)
- IP address (stored with contact messages for abuse prevention)
3.3 Advertiser portal users
If we provision an advertiser account for your business, we process:
- Contact name, company name, email address, and optional phone number
- Login username and password (stored as a one-way hash — we never store plain-text passwords)
- Uploaded ad creatives (images and destination URLs)
- Purchase history, view packages, order status, and internal admin notes
3.4 Third-party advertising (with consent)
If you accept Marketing & ads cookies, Google AdSense may set its own cookies and collect usage data to serve, measure, and limit ad frequency. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as health, political opinions, or biometric data). We do not sell your personal data.
4. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
We use cookies and browser local storage to operate the site and remember your preferences.
| Category | What it does | Examples | Legal basis | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Security, session management, and remembering your cookie choice | PHP session cookie; consent record in local storage (gnf_cookie_consent) |
Legitimate interest / necessary for service | Yes |
| Analytics | Understanding how visitors use the site | No third-party analytics service is active at present. This category is reserved for potential future use | Consent | No |
| Marketing & ads | Loading third-party advertising scripts (Google AdSense) | Google advertising cookies (only after you consent) | Consent | No |
Direct-sold ads (uploaded by advertisers and served by us) are displayed regardless of marketing consent. They do not rely on third-party ad-network cookies. View counts are recorded on our servers in aggregated form.
Non-essential cookies and scripts are only activated after you give consent via our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using in the footer.
5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for marketing cookies (Google AdSense) and optional analytics cookies
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — when operating advertiser accounts and responding to enquiries you send us
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to operate, secure, and improve the website; measure aggregated headline and ad popularity; prevent abuse; display direct-sold advertisements that fund the service; and maintain server logs for security
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests (see Section 11).
6. How we use your data
- Provide and maintain the website, news feeds, and advertiser portal
- Remember your cookie preferences
- Rank trending and breaking headlines from aggregated click counts
- Deliver direct-sold advertisements and count ad views for billing
- Load Google AdSense after marketing consent
- Respond to contact form messages and emails
- Manage advertiser accounts, ad campaigns, and view packages
- Protect the site against spam, fraud, and security incidents
7. Third-party services and outbound links
When you click a news headline, you leave our site and visit the original publisher. Their privacy policies apply on their websites.
We use the following categories of third-party services:
- Google AdSense — third-party advertising (only after marketing consent)
- Simply.com (UnoEuro) — website hosting, database, email delivery, and server security in the EU/EEA
- Google Fonts & Font Awesome CDN — delivery of fonts and icons. These providers may receive your IP address when assets load
8. International data transfers
Our hosting is within the EU/EEA. Some third-party providers (such as Google) may process data outside the EEA. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards — including Standard Contractual Clauses and adequacy decisions — as required by GDPR Chapter V.
9. Data retention
- Server logs — retained for a limited period required for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised
- Cookie consent records — stored in your browser until you clear site data or withdraw consent
- Article click counts — kept as aggregated numbers tied to article IDs, not to individual users
- Ad view counts — kept as aggregated numbers tied to ad IDs for billing and reporting
- Contact messages — kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter (typically up to 24 months unless a longer period is required by law)
- Advertiser accounts — retained while the account is active and for up to 5 years after closure for accounting, tax, and legal compliance
10. Automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
11. Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar data-protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access — obtain a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data in certain circumstances ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain cases
- Data portability — receive data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format where applicable
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
How to exercise your rights
Email hello@globenewsfeed.com or use the contact form with topic Privacy / GDPR request. Please describe your request clearly so we can help you efficiently.
We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests. There is no fee for exercising your rights unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
12. Right to complain
If you believe we have not handled your personal data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Norway, this is Datatilsynet (Norwegian Data Protection Authority). You may also complain to the authority in your country of residence or workplace.
13. Children
Our site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including:
- Password hashing for advertiser and admin accounts
- Access controls on admin and advertiser areas
- Hosting provider security features and server-side protections
- Honeypot and rate limiting on contact forms
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page. Where required by law, we will seek renewed consent.
